Strong contrasts, sensuality and a dark colour pallet are the leitmotiv throughout this collection. Inspiration was found in the works of Leon Spillaert and Thierry De Cordier. Spilliaert was a Belgian symbolist painter who lived near the seaside, in Ostend. His surroundings became a constant source of inspiration to him: the nightly walks through the city, the colours of the sea and even the mirrors in his father’s perfume shop. Spilliaert’s shadow effects were quite striking. Women also played an important role in his work. They embody pure sensuality and sexuality.
Belgian artist Thierry De Cordier, on the other hand, has a wide range of talents. In his work he tries to escape reality and loneliness and he expresses the desire to become an individual. He uses mainly dark colours (blue, grey and black) and strong contrasts.
